An ideal location near marked cycling routes

Thanks to its location between the Via Rhôna and the Dolce Via, its proximity to St. Félicien and the Ardéchoise cycling routes, the Les Berges du Doux campsite in northern Ardèche, in the Doux Valley, is certified as a “bike-friendly” campsite and is ideally situated for touring cyclists or those on longer stays.

What could be more pleasant than taking a break by the river and enjoying the heated swimming pool (open from May onwards) and a refreshing drink or homemade ice cream on the terrace?

The campsite, near the charming village of Boucieu-le-Roi, allows you to reach the Dolce Via at Lamastre either by bike or bus from Boucieu (services available in July and August), or by the Ardèche Train, which also stops in Boucieu-le-Roi. From there, you can easily access the marked cycling routes around St. Félicien or in the Doux Valley.

The app (https://rando-ardeche-hermitage.fr/) offers various routes for cycling, e-biking, and walking, not forgetting the e-biking guide https://www.ardeche-hermitage.com/fr

Our favorite routes near the campsite:

  • Family outing: Between Colombier-le-Vieux train station and the village of Boucieu-le-Roi, starting from the campsite, take the Route du Doux, a gently sloping riverside road of approximately 5.5 km. Swimming is possible in certain spots along the way.

  • On the greenways: In Tournon, on the banks of the Rhône, you have access to the Via Rhôna greenway, a 21 km route in the Ardèche department.

  • Vineyards and orchards will set the rhythm of your walk. The route passes through the towns of Vion, Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, Tournon-sur-Rhône, Mauves, Glun, La Roche-de-Glun, and Pont-de-l’Isère.

  • In Lamastre, you have access to the Dolce Via, built on a former railway line, therefore with very gentle gradients.

  • The greenways of the Ardèche are accessible and safe for everyone! With children or with friends, set off at your leisure to explore the most secluded valleys of the Ardèche, such as the Dolce Via, which offers 90 km of gentle paths between Saint Agrève and La Voulte sur Rhône: https://www.ardeche-guide.com/experiences-emerveillantes/l-ardeche-velo.

These two routes allow you to easily enjoy the Ardèche environment and landscape. They can be reached by bus (in July/August) or by the Ardèche train.

A 90km loop is also possible over a few days by taking the Ardèche train, which connects to the Dolce Via and then the Via Rhôna for a return to Tournon-sur-Rhône. For the more athletic, you will find below some examples of marked routes suitable for e-bikes, road bikes, or mountain bikes.
